Team Anthem

We thought that this song was especially appropriate for our team, and sang it together at our first meeting. It is such a sweet praise to our sovereign Lord for His love for the poor and afflicted:

Faithful, forever You are faithful
Father to the fatherless
You uphold the one who feels forsaken
You are faithful, God

Faithful, forever You are faithful
Lover of the wounded heart
You defend the poor and the forgotten
You are faithful, God

And I will sing to the maker of Heaven and Earth
God, You reign forever and Your love will endure
Faithful and true is the name of the Lord
You are faithful, God

Faithful, forever You are faithful
Shelter for the fragile soul
You lift us up, You hold us all together
You are faithful, God

You are there in every season of my soul
You are there, You’re the anchor that will hold
You are there, in the valley of the shadows
You are faithful, God

Pre-South Africa Prayer Requests

As we look forward to what God will accomplish through us in South Africa, we know that none of it will be possible without faithful prayer support. Seeing as it is critical to this trip, would you please join us in praying?

The most important prayer requests leading up to the trip are as follows (not in the order of importance)
  • Team unity — half of us have known each other for less than a month.
  • The logistics of travel, we want to spend our time in country serving, not bogged down with travel or paperwork issues.
  • Travel safety.
  • In country safety, stamina, and great health for everyone.
  • The Mack Family and 1hope.
  • That we would be truly helpful and make lasting connections with the ministry of 1hope.
  • That God would be glorified, that we would be selfless and reflect Christ in all we do.
  • That the Spirit of God would move powerfully, and we would seek first the Kingdom.
  • That we would exert everything, and that the Gospel would be proclaimed.
Thank you all so much for your prayerful support! It is truly a blessing!

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. -2 Corinthians 5:21

Donations

It’s incredibly exciting and a little bit scary to think that our team is leaving in less than one week! For those of you who go to Grace Church, we just want to remind you that tomorrow is the last day to bring donations for South Africa to the church!

Supplies for the Muphamuzi Baby Home

-Baby bottles (Avent brand)
-Pacifiers (Nuk brand)
-Onesies sizes newborn-24 months (one piece baby outfits that snap at the bottom)
-Infant T-shirts
-Formula (especially if anyone can find it at a good price)

Books/Bibles for the church plant in Malawi

-Bibles (used or new, NIV/ESV/NASB/NKJV)
-Study bibles (used or new)
-Solid Christian books (used or new)

We’re sorry that this reminder is so late, but hopefully a few of you will see this and remember to bring some donations to bless those who we will be going to serve 🙂

(There should have been a copy of this list in your bulletin this Sunday)

A Message from the Bloggers

Hey all! (:

Deborah and Matthew here — we’re going to be posting most of the updates and happenings during the trip, so we just wanted to say a little “hello” and a huge “thank you” to all of you who are partnering in this trip with us through financial support and prayer! We are so grateful for this opportunity to serve Christ by serving 1 Hope, the Mack family, and their orphan ministry. We also want to thank all of you who contributed donations towards church planting and the Muphamuzi Baby Home — the Lord has continued to pour out His astounding grace on our team through all of you!

We cannot wait to tell you all about what God is doing in South Africa!

All for His glory,

Deborah and Matthew

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. [Ephesians 1.3-6]
